Legal
Terms of use
Updated 24 August 2026.
What this covers
The Cockpit software is free software under the MIT licence, and its terms are those of that licence. This text covers only the optional service: accounts, synchronisation and teams.
Your account
You are responsible for your password and for what your account does. A valid email address is required, and you must be able to read it: it is the address that lets you into a team.
Expected use
The service is provided for ordinary development use. Excluded: storing unlawful data, trying to exhaust its resources, or attempting to reach someone else’s data.
Teams
Creating a team makes you its owner: you decide who joins and who leaves. An invitation targets one address, and only the account holding that address can accept it. Leaving or deleting a team never touches its members’ accounts.
No warranty
The service is provided as is, with no availability guarantee. It is not a backup: the truth of your data stays the local database on your machine, and Cockpit keeps working when the server does not answer.
Ending
You may delete your account at any time. We may close an account that breaks these terms, after warning you except in an emergency. Were the service to shut down, reasonable notice would be given to retrieve your data.
